Laptop Battery Troubleshooting

The battery consists of a plastic outer case, metal electrical contacts, an inner metal case filled with a chemical and special electrical contacts called electrodes, and lastly, perhaps some control circuitry. Note that the actual charging circuit is usually part of the laptop mainboard. There are many problems with laptop battery. Some methods for solving problems in the manual printed laptop itself, it is necessary to the operating instructions before you consult the laptop for the first time.

If not a new laptop battery, please ensure that a full charge. A new laptop out of business, usually equipped with a battery, and you must charge for later use. A new lithium-ion laptop is essentially required to be charged for almost 12 hours before use. If it is a NiMH battery that charges would be working properly for at least 24 hours.

If you have done with sufficient HP pavilion dv5 battery charge and the laptop still does not work, you just have to make when battery is plugged into a decent laptop. If the laptop is turned off automatically, check the power management settings, since the handset can automatically shut down when the battery is low.

If your laptop battery gets hot after using for a while, you do not have to worry about, there is no problem and is normal in all laptops. But if the battery is warm or hot, could be a serious problem. In such a situation, remove the battery from the laptop and let cool. When this problem occurs regularly, the Compaq presario cq40 battery may be to blame themselves and may need to provide replacement.

If the battery is not charging when connected to a socket with the adapter, check the power supply when it comes to enough power to charge. You can also try to charge the battery with the same adapter, but a shot of energy sources. The interruption in the supply of energy can also be a problem leaving the Dell inspiron 1440 battery out of power. Check all cable connections in relation to food, such as the connector on the back of the notebook and the housing of the transformer. There are ways that the adapter is not present.

If you experience any problems with laptop battery, simply remove the battery from the laptop and any debris or dirt in or around the connections. The wreckage or debris can restrict the laptop to power components within the Dell inspiron 14 battery compartment, connect. On the other hand, it is necessary to examine whether there are indications that, as no traces can be seen burning on the battery compartment.

Before any step to resolve laptop battery, by the continuing problem of being only the ThinkPad x60s battery and must be verified elsewhere. If these steps do not seem to work, the last option left is to call the service person to carry, and let you know about the problem and what did all the troubleshooting steps you taken.

Reset the PMU and solution for PowerBook G4 (12-inch) battery won't charge

The battery in my G4 Powerbook won't charge, and I am a long way from any technical help!

I recently received a replacement battery PowerBook G4. However, it seems the battery is faulty. I charged it fully for 16 hours but after the first 5 minutes of use the computer shutdown without warning. It would not restart on battery power. I have reset the PRAM and System Management, rebooted several times and the problem persists. Apple recalled batteries behaving in the same way a while ago and I believe my battery has the same fault. So I search in google and found the Apple reply :

There are some ways to reset the PMU. Have you tried them all?

PowerBook G4 (15-inch 1.67/1.5GHz), PowerBook G4 (17-inch 1.67GHz), PowerBook G4 (15-inch Double-Layer SD) and PowerBook G4 (17-inch Double-Layer SD)

1. If the computer is on, turn it off.

2. Disconnect the AC Adapter and remove the computer's Apple a1175 battery.

3. Press and hold down the power button for 5 seconds and then release the button.

4. Reconnect the Apple a1185 battery and AC Adapter.

5. Press the Power button to restart the computer.

If a Apple laptop battery is completely drained, it may not charge properly the next time you connect the computer's power adapter.

Products affected

* PowerBook G4 (12-inch)

* Mac OS X 10.2 through 10.2.3

Update the Mac OS X software:

1. Remove and reinsert the Apple Macbook Pro battery and try charging again.

2. Download and install Mac OS 10.2.4 or later. It is available from the Software Update preference pane, or from Apple Software Downloads (http://www.apple.com/swupdates/).

If the issue recurs after installing Mac OS X 10.2.4 or later, continue normal operation as the situation should resolve itself within a few minutes.

New battery can not be fully charged

Generally the new battery can 100% fully discharge-charge. Last month I buy a latitude d820 battery replacement, as my work dont need to take the notebook out, so I use the notebook with the AC adapter and I store the battery in my drawer. Last Friday, I want to visite my customer with my notebook and show some business projects. So I charged my battery for a whole night, but I only see my battery 70% capacity state charged next morning. My battery is really new, why it can not be 100% charged?

So I query the battery expert Jack Smith that the reason "Why new battery can not be fully charged?". He said that : after the laptop battery not use for a long time, the battery charge must in the low current in the right system power option. And then he give me some adviese to set the power Option. Now I introduce the tips for my readers step by step with detail photos.

A .windows xp system:

1) Go to Start/Control Panel/Power Options and look for the "Alarms" tab.

2) Choose Low Sony VGP-BPS9 battery alarm and critical battery alarm to make the alarm operation to no operation untick the two boxes(see below picture)

3) Let it discharge the battery till the laptop automatically off.

4) Charge the Sony VGP-BPS9/B again.

Attention:Do as below:

B: Windows vistar system:

1) Go to Start/Control Panel/Power Options/Edit Plan Settings /Battery/Low battery action/Do nothing.

2) Let it discharge the Pavilion dv6000 Battery till the laptop automatically off.

3) Charge the battery again.

In the end if you still cant fully charge your laptop battery, you can calibrate the battery and then use the battery fresh program to refresh your battery to calibrate the battery charge-discharge time.

Charging you laptop battery by Ultra fast charger

Charging you laptop battery by Ultra fast charger

Some producers argue charger incredibly reduced charging times of 30 minutes or less. Cells with well-balanced and operating at moderate temperature, nickel-cadmium Dell Inspiron 1525 Batteries designed for fast charging can indeed be applied in a very short time. This is done simply dumped in a high charge current during the first 70% of the charge cycle.

In the second phase of the charge cycle, the charge current should be lowered. The absorption efficiency of the Asus M6000N battery charge is reduced gradually shifts to a higher charge state. If the charge current is still too high in the later part of the charging cycle, the excess energy is transformed into heat and high pressure cell. Eventually, the ventilation will occur, releasing oxygen and hydrogen. Not only reduce the gases escaping the electrolyte is highly flammable! A white powdery substance accumulating in the mouth area indicates the previous outburst.

Ultra-fast charging can only be applied to Dell PC764 battery that are designed for rapid recharge. Applying a high current charge for normal cells will cause the conductive path to heat up. The contacts on the portable packages also suffer if the current arrangements for contact management piston spring is undervalued. These contacts can wear out prematurely. Often, a fine and almost invisible crater appears on the tip of the contact, causing a high resistive path and forms an insulator. The heat generated by a bad contact often melts the plastic. touch voltages exceeding improve the flow of current.

old Dell Inspiron 1501 Battery with high internal resistance and the corresponding cells do not lend themselves to ultra-fast charging, even if they were designed for it. Low conductivity cell is transformed into heat, which further deteriorates the cells. Weak cells which have less capacity are fully charged before the others and begin to heat up quickly. Some HP 530 battery create enough heat to soften and distort the plastic case. Temperature sensing is a prerequisite for rapid and ultra-fast charging.

Several manufacturers offer chargers wrist. Interspersing short bursts of discharge between each pulse of charge can further increase the charge. This method promotes the recombination of oxygen and hydrogen gas, resulting in accumulation of reduced pressure and temperature of the lower cell. Pulse chargers are also known to reduce the crystalline formation (memory) for Nickel-based. Most of the Cadex Inspiron 1525 Battery charger for dv8000 Battery based on nickel implement this function.

Some advanced chargers adjust the charge current according to Dell Inspiron 9300 Battery capacity to accept charge. A DELL E1505 Battery takes a charge initially very high current. Towards the end of a tax, the current is tapered down. batteries have aged since their respect and are automatically charged at rates appropriate to their condition.

Do we need to fully discharge the batteries before recharging

Do we need to fully discharge the batteries before recharging

To exhaust the battery completely before recharging laptop is not necessary today with lithium-ion laptop battery. The myth that notebook PC batteries should be fully discharged before recharging comes from the "memory effect" phenomenon that swept the old nickel-cadmium (NiCad) batteries of a laptop.

To circumvent the effect of memory and premature death of NiCd batteries, owners of old handsets had to fully discharge their Dell Inspiron 6400 Battery before recharging.

Laptops contain components that we now have advanced computer and no longer work with NiCad batteries. In contrast, today's laptops run on the latest development in portable Dell Inspiron 6000 Battery technology - lithium ion. Lithium batteries do not suffer the memory effect like NiCad batteries do because they have no memory. You can recharge them, but still has some juice, without fear of reducing the energy capacity of the battery, run times and duration of life.

In fact, it is advisable to recharge lithium-ion Inspiron 630m Battery , while still have some power. However, you must comply fully with them from time to time to re-calibrate the indicator of battery life on the screen of your laptop. This indicator tells you how much longer the hardware of the laptop can last without being connected to an electrical outlet.

Unless you are still using an old laptop using NiCd batteries, you do not miss or shorten your Dell Inspiron 640m Battery life if you do not fully comply with its laptop batteries before recharging. Feel free to connect the laptop to an outlet with the battery in place while using it. Laptop batteries can recharge while ensuring that the hardware of the laptop will not die with you when an outage occurs.

The charging of lithium-ion batteries B

The charging of lithium-ion batteries B

Some chargers promise a fast charging lithium-ion Dell laptop batteries in one hour or less. Such chargers skip Step 2 and go straight to "Ready / Ready" at the end of stage 1 At this point, however, the charge level only at about 75%. The achievement of the full charge requires I.รก. times longer than level 1

There is no floating charge created as stand lithium-ion Dell RN873 do not overcharge. In their place, a short Endladephase is added, which compensates for the small self-discharge of the battery and the power requirements of the protection circuit. This Endladephase may need to be repeated every 20 days, depending on the battery. In general, the charging process is active when the open terminal voltage drops to 4.05V/Zelle, and turns off when the terminal voltage has reached 4.20V/Zelle.

But what happens when a battery is inadvertently overcharged? Lithium Ion Dell hd438 , Dell KD186 is built to operate safely within their normal voltage range, but it becomes unstable if it is charged to higher voltages. When is charged via 4.30V/Zelle, formed on the anode, a metallic lithium layer, the cathode material begins to oxidize, losing the stability and development of oxygen. Overloading leads to overheating of the cell. If this is ignored, can lead to inflammation.
It will be made great efforts to avoid overloading and deep discharging too.

Commercial lithium-ion batteries contain a protection circuit which limits the charging voltage on 4.30V/Zelle, 0.1V/Zelle higher than the threshold voltage of the charger. A temperature sensor shuts off the process when the cell temperature reached 90 ° C, and a mechanical pressure switch interrupts is definitely in the charge circuit when the safety threshold is reached for the pressure. Except to the spinel batteries () magnesium-based, which contain one or two small cells.

Extremely low voltages must also be monitored. The protective circuit is so constructed that it also interrupts the circuit when the battery is inadvertently discharged below 2.50V/Zelle. At this voltage the protection circuit will disable the laptop battery and recharge with the help of an ordinary charger is no longer possible.

There are various measures to prevent deep discharge. The device protects the battery by interrupting the discharge has reached a voltage of 2.7 to 3.0V/Zelle. Battery manufacturers ship the Dell Inspiron 6000 Battery with a capacity of 40% to allow for self-discharge during storage. Technically better batteries contain a "Weckschaltung", where the protective circuit only allows a flow of current after the battery has been reactivated with the help of a short charge. This allows for longer storage.

laptop battery can not charge and dischage

laptop battery can not charge and dischage

charge

Generally, we said our laptop battery dead means that : the battery can not charge or discharge. The laptop battery can not work after used for some months most caused by the problem. Also sometimes the battery suddenly can not be recognized by machine. This is the adapter or mohterboard problem (espacially in dell laptop battery).

To second problem we only can change the adapter or motherboard. So http://www.battery4.us will talk some useful tips about the reason and solution to the "battery can not charge and discharge" for you.

The laptop battery can not discharge

Laptop battery can not discharge Reason:

  1. The laptop battery after the storage using and the life decay;

  2. Lacking charge or not be charged;

  3. Ambient temperature is too low;

  4. Discharge efficient less, such as the large current discharge cause voltage sharp drop to 0, then electricity can not be released

  5. The Toshiba PA3399U-2BRS battery has been in over-discharge protection.

Laptop battery can not discharge Solution:

  1. The Dell Inspiron 1525 Battery during storage should take a monthly charge and discharge;

  2. Charge the battery at 10% state;

  3. Use in a normal environment;

  4. Use proper adapter of the machine.

  5. Place it in icebox for about 12 hours and cool place 3-5 days to unlock the protection

The laptop battery can not charge

Laptop battery can not charge Reason:

  1. The Inspiron E1505 Battery in zero voltage;

  2. charger failure, no output current;

  3. External factors have led to the charging efficiency is too low (such as low or high temperature).

Laptop battery can not charge Solution:

  1. Check charger output voltage and current;

  2. Check the laptop battery charger output contacts is good or not

  3. Charge the battery with 1.5 times the maximum voltage of the battery, 1.5C high current charging, active the Sony VGP-BPS8 battery . (Only when the battery can not charge, use this method)

In the end, http://www.battery4.us wish you have a good Christmas Day.

Do not charge mobile phone battery too long time

Do not charge mobile phone battery too long time

Because of improper use of this small a laptop battery as a "time bomb" could explode at any time.

There are many types of cells, according to their nature of work can be divided into a battery (primary batteries), rechargeable batteries (rechargeable batteries). Disposable primary battery can not re-use, multi-mercury, including the carbon-zinc batteries, alkaline batteries, zinc-manganese batteries. Rechargeable batteries can be reused, the common are nickel-cadmium batteries, lithium rechargeable batteries. "Because cells contain large quantities of chemical substances in use, pay special attention to safety." In particular, the following practices are best avoided.

A long time to charge the phone. Cell phone laptop batteries are mostly Li-ion battery. Most people want the phone to standby longer, so he deliberately charging an extension of time, such as work began to charge home, go to bed have shown that full power, still need further charge on the night and the next morning before unplugging . But in fact, if the battery is full, to continue charging the higher the temperature continues, the battery is not in the resistance of the long-term drop off, the battery itself, heat aging can also occur at the same time, some may even be counterfeit batteries or battery (A1175 A1079) leakage explosion phenomenon.

The correct way is the third new Latitude D610 battery before the charge required to more than 12 hours, so that the battery to fully activate the batteries. After charging according to battery type and capacity of different charging time is about 1.5-6 hours, indicating the battery is already full of 1 hour charge can be added, so that both sufficient and would not damage the battery. To not more than 24 hours.

Then when the notebook computer power does not win the battery. The number of Apple Powerbook G4 battery charge is limited, on one charge, the battery on to the "retired" step forward. Recommended to make use of an external power supply, use an external power supply when the battery removed. If you plug the power several times in the day, and the notebook computer equipped with a battery, this will damage the battery more. Because each access to external power supply is equivalent to the battery charge time, battery life shortened by a naturally.

Repeated use of disposable alkaline batteries. Disposable batteries run out or throw, do not re-use or as a rechargeable Latitude D620 battery to use it. This is very likely to use or charge at a number of gas pressure generated in the process, so that the battery swelling. When the gas pressure is too large when the row did not come out, the battery may be a result of chemical reaction caused by fire or explosion.

To be able to charge the new alkaline batteries with rechargeable batteries and old. Old and new Pavilion DV2000 battery because of their life not the same, the capacity to accept are not the same and therefore I put together charging, the small capacity of the old battery is fully charged, the need to wait until after the high-capacity battery is full will stop. In this waiting process, the battery itself was filled with electricity, there is still current flows through, it's like in the expansion of charge. Once the excessive charging, the battery itself will heat expansion, destruction of the battery protection circuit may cause fire or explosion.

When charging the battery, be sure to use a dedicated charger original, otherwise they will be models inconsistent probably can not be recharged into electricity, or in the process of charging, resulting in leakage of the situation, over time will damage the VGP-BPS2C VGP-BPS2 VGP-BPS5 VGP-BPS2A battery's protection circuit, resulting in the battery explosion or other dangerous incidents.

A limited number of rechargeable batteries, if found to rapidly heat the battery, indicating the effectiveness gradually decreased and should be replaced immediately
